Things I heard for the first time at the Heathrow Con today:
There was a deleted scene in ‘the curse of the seafaring life’ prior to garlic soup on the bed. Jim was looking for the garlic and salt, and getting all worked up. Archie looked at Olu and said, ‘Getting wet below decks’. Olu agrees. Madeleine Sami ad-libbed the line, but it was further confirmation of the polycule.
There was a character arc for Wee John in which he is getting tired of being treated as ‘the big guy’. When Stede asks him to do something such as steal the wheel, Wee John was supposed to look at him and pout. Apparently each time he did it, Rhys and Kristian cracked up so much, they had to abandon the scene.
There has to be outtakes of these scenes.
Someone asked if the ‘boyfriend’ line was scripted in 208. Rhys said it was definitely not scripted, but can’t remember if he improv’d it or David threw it in on set as improv.
Oh, and both Nathan and Con rejected the idea there was any frisson between Lucius and Izzy.

Ao3 is a non-profit organisation. If they have to start paying taxes, I have no idea what will happen.
I’d like to remind everybody that this isn’t just about A03 or civil rights organizations. This could be applied to any 501 organization. That includes churches, schools, museums and library support organizations. All sorts of support organizations like soup kitchens or places like goodwill. Those are all non-profit organizations and they all have a 501 status. This is a threat to every civil organization we have that is meant to help the public.
So please contact your representatives. Please look this up on Twitter and click the link so you can call your representatives and voice against this. Because there’s a hell of a lot more at stake with a bill like this than just ao3. People’s lives could be at risk.
The House will vote THIS WEEK to determine whether the incoming Trump administration will have the power to shut down non-profit organizations with no due process.
Congress has already tried to fast-track this legislation once and failed because of the onslaught of calls to their offices. We can’t let them do this quietly. So I thought this was commonly known internet navigation (but apparently it might just be those of us who have been using the internet since the 90’s who still know it). Or so it seems based on… a grumpy comment I got.
When you see an arrow like this:
It means you click it to expand out a hidden section.
It’s an accordion section/menu! It’s useful in web design to hide information that may be overwhelming under specific headers so people can only see what they need.
Here I’m using it for people who need the content warnings to be able to check, but for those who don’t need them and don’t want to be spoiled to just move right past without accidentally reading anything.

i still think y'all are making a lot of weird assumptions about how the 2x06 makeover plotline was going to go
i’m confident the plot was never going to be that the makeover in and of itself was all it took to seduce ed, for several reasons but the most important one is that on a basic structural level that would make the plot of the episode incoherent. like, the ned low stuff was still going to happen; it’s not like it was originally going to be an entire episode about a makeover and they suddenly decided to replace that with a whole weird thing about bronson pinchot as a torturer after the late rewrites. (not only would there not have been time for that, ned low was being foreshadowed way back in 1x01.) so it doesn’t make sense to think the ned low stuff originally had nothing to do with ed and stede having sex, that makes no sense.
what was going to happen was you had this whole plotline about escalating sexual tension that was annoying everyone on the ship, and then you had the makeover and dancing and stuff which drove the sexual tension situation even higher, and THEN the ned low situation happens and ed and stede sleeping together is still a reaction to that trauma, it’s just a bit more clearly set up because you had this whole plotline about mounting sexual tension and the whole taking-it-slow thing being really difficult for both of them even before the big trauma occurred.
(and the implication was not ever going to be that ed…wasn’t attracted to stede before the makeover, or that stede NEEDED a makeover for ed to want to sleep with him, or even that the makeover was particularly an improvement. i’m not sure why anyone thinks there is any chance at all of that. for one thing, we know explicitly that the whole REASON for the makeover was that there was already a lot of sexual tension, the tension was there because they both already desperately wanted to have sex! and of course the whole point of this would have been that stede never actually needed to change and become the manly pirate from his dream to win ed over, he just believed he did, that’s the cut-down arc that’s already there.)

THIS IS A CALL TO ACTION. Censorship affects all of us, and if Project 2025 gets its way, the entire trans publishing industry is at a significant risk of criminalization. In this article, I lay out the problem and the stakes, and suggest a broad action plan with dozens of potential response ✊

I took absolutely no pleasure writing this article, but I have a lot of research around obscenity law and historical precedents for this that I know nobody else has access to, and getting the information out there is crucial right now 😔
The core thesis of this article - one that echoes much of the other advice that I’ve seen floating around leftist spheres over the past week - is that our best defense against this type of censorship is mass grassroots action. If every person who reads this picked five books they want to preserve and five people they want to share this with, it would have a much broader impact than if a singular group of readers attempts to document and archive the entire corpus.
A centralized preservation effort can do immense work, of course, but it won’t be accessible to the trans people who need to read trans books and see trans joy to survive whatever comes next.
